I am a professional musician, born and living in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. I spent a large part of my career working as a music lecturer and piano teacher, working for 9 years as a course leader in a local further education college, specializing in teaching performance, music theory and arranging. I work as an arranger for choirs and orchestras, and have had work performed by the Northern Sinfonia, Opera North and the orchestra of the Midland Voices choir. In addition I regularly contribute arrangements for the Inspiration choir based in Newcastle and Leeds. One of my career highlights was conceiving a project that involved Tony Kakko, vocalist of Finnish metal stars Sonata Arctica, performing my arrangements of some of Sonata Arctica’s material at The Sage Gateshead with an orchestra and a choir of over 300 singers in April 2008. I co-wrote the music for a musical by Alfie Joey, the well-known comedian and BBC presenter, which was premiered in April 2011, and have written music for short films. I was commisioned to provide some of the arrangements for the Disney Christmas Choral Spectacular at Euro Disney in winter 2012.

I have played piano for more than 30 years, and have taught pupils of all ages since 1994. I have performed at a huge range of venues over the years, including Whitey Bay Playhouse, Leeds Town Hall, Sunderland Empire Theatre, The Sage Gateshead, St. James’ Park (the home of Newcastle United), the cathedrals of York, Durham and Newcastle, the Snape Maltings, Halifax Playhouse, Ripon Racecourse and many more. In addition, I was the piano player on Inspiration choir’s tours to Paris in 2010, 11 and 12, including performances at Saint Eustache cathedral and Euro Disney.

Whilst I have been involved in a vast range of musical styles and projects from classical to metal, jazz to music theatre, my solo material has been compared to artists as diverse as Frank Black, Wishbone Ash, Seth Lakeman, R.E.M. and Alice in Chains. Although I am a specialist piano and keyboard player, I also sing, and play guitar and viola. My debut album “Safesake” was released in August 2010, and is available from this siteAmazon, iTunes, and CD Baby, in either CD or MP3 format.
