Mark Deeks: Director Music Newcastle Ltd.
“A huge thanks to Mark Deeks for putting together my show ‘Stepping Out’. A pleasure to work with and looking forward to working together again in the near future!” (Faye Tozer, Steps)
I have played piano for more than 30 years, building up a wealth of experience as a performer, arranger, musical director, and lecturer, winning the North of England Wedding Award in Music and Entertainment in 2013. My client list has included Faye Tozer, BBC Newcastle, David Miliband, Virgin Trains, Alfie Joey, Anna Foster, Steve Harper, Jack Colback, and Lenny Henry.
I am the MD of Echo pop choir in Newcastle and Leeds, and Take Note Community Choir in Whickham, as well as being the Assistant MD for the Inspiration UK choir, based at The Sage Gateshead and Opera North in Leeds. I have previously been commissioned by Euro Disney to provide some arrangements for the Christmas Choral Festival, whilst in 2011 I co-wrote and starred in ‘Monopolise’ a comedy musical by the BBC’s Alfie Joey. I have performed at a huge range of venues over the years, including the Inspiration tours to New York, Paris and Edinburgh, Whitey Bay Playhouse, Leeds Town Hall, Sunderland Empire Theatre, The Sage Gateshead, St. James’ Park (the home of Newcastle United), the cathedrals of York, Durham and Newcastle, the Snape Maltings, Halifax Playhouse, Ripon Racecourse, as well as at a huge range of wedding and function venues across the north.
Whilst I have been involved in a vast range of musical styles and projects from classical to metal, jazz to music theatre, my solo material has been compared to artists as diverse as Frank Black, Wishbone Ash, Seth Lakeman, R.E.M. and Alice in Chains. Although I am a specialist piano and keyboard player, I also sing, and play guitar and viola. My debut album “Safesake” was released in August 2010, and is available from this site, Amazon, iTunes, and CD Baby, in either CD or MP3 format.
